At the heart of the new glove and its ability to protect against cuts is SHOWA’s advanced Hagane Coil Technology which provides cut Level 5 protection (EN388:2003) and Level E (ISO 13977) classification.
But what exactly is Hagane Coil Technology and how does it work?
HAGANE COIL® TECHNOLOGY LINER
Hagane Coil Technology is a unique coiling process that binds high performance yarns to a stainless steel core, giving the glove Samurai Technology and providing the wearer with enhanced cut protection compared to using natural or synthetic fibres.
In the case of the S-TEX 581 three different fibres – Polyester, Hagane high carbon steel and Kevlar® are combined.
Hagane steel has been selected as it is the high carbon steel used to create Samurai fighting swords. This combined with the unique coiling technique that twists the yarn around the Hagane stainless steel core, offers extremely high protection, comfort and performance even when the hand is bending and flexing.
By using Hagane Coil Technology, not only does the S-TEX 581 offer supreme cut protection, but the liner is still thin enough to allow excellent hand and finger dexterity resulting in a confident wearing experience when handling greasy, sharp edged components.
